Days 6-7: Alajuela & Departure

We had an early afternoon flight from Golfito back to Alajuela, which means we got picked up late morning for our two hour taxi ride from Tiskita Lodge to the airport. Lizbeth, the owner of Tiskita was so accommodating and made us a nice lunch even though we were leaving before the official lunch time. She knew we wouldn't find much to eat at the Golfito airport and didn't want us to be hungry!

Our taxi driver inexplicably made a stop at a bar in Pavones to either drop something off or pick something up. We were getting a bit nervous as we waited for at least five minutes. But we were soon on the road again.Once again, there were many animals on the road and/or side of the road. I thought we were going to run over an iguana once, but the driver swerved just in time. Here is the refreshment stand at Golfito airport:
We bought a couple of waters since it was really hot and we had an hour until our flight left.
Once again, we were on a tiny plane and we had to be weighed along with our gear.

The view from the plane was amazing:We landed in San Jose and took a taxi to our hotel, Hotel La Rosa de America.

Brian decided to work on his hobby of bug photography. Costa Rica is a perfect place for that! He grabbed these guys in less than a minute:

We were famished as we'd had lunch early, so we stopped at Chery's Bar for a quick snack and a drink. We returned to the hotel and relaxed for an hour or so. Then, we set out for dinner. It was about a mile away from our hotel, so we decided to walk. It seemed to take forever, but we finally found the place. There was an Italian restaurant attached to the spa/hotel, which was our destination. The food was among the most delicious food we'd ever had! I look a little sad in this picture, but I am just tired and hot!I wish we'd snapped this picture 5 seconds earlier, but this dog was attempting to enter the spa:After dinner, we walked back to our hotel and fell asleep. Our flight left very early the next morning. We got up, took a taxi that the owner of the hotel had called for us the night before, and arrived at the San Jose airport. Smooth sailing. Before we knew it, we were home again!
