Thursday morning started off with a run -- my first since the marathon. We did 5 1/2 miles around the harbor -- it felt great! After breakfast, we took the T out to Jamaica Plain, and had lunch at the Purple Cactus:Then we went to the Arnold Arboretum. They had a bonsai exhibit, but it was locked up, so we had to look through the bars. Maybe it's always locked up -- some of these little trees were several centuries old.
We went on a Sam Adams brewery tour:We took a train back to Boston and stopped at Caffe Vittoria for a bit of rest and some coffee drinks.A bit exhausted, we went back to the apartment to rest for a bit. A huge thunderstorm arrived in Boston shortly after we were inside. It left almost as quickly as it came, and things were dry again for dinner.
We ate at Antico Forno on Salem Street, one block over from where we stayed. The food was absolutely delicious -- highly recommended!
On Thursday evenings, the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston is free, so we walked over there. The building is cantilevered:
Brian remembers seeing a vignette about this building while watching "This Old House."
In the elevator:Too much photography and not enough installations for my liking, but they mostly had temporary exhibits, so maybe next time it would be more interesting.
Walking back to the apartment, we found these giant benches that were next to speakers piping Frank Sinatra music. So we relaxed for a bit, enjoying life.
